The English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) is a school-site committee made up of parents, staff, and community members who work together to support the success of English Learners. ELAC provides input on programs and services that help English Learners achieve academic success and ensure their needs are represented in school planning and decision-making.
Each school with 21 or more English Learners is required to have an ELAC. The committee meets throughout the year to discuss topics such as language development programs, parent engagement, and ways to support multilingual learners on campus.
At the district level, the District English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC) brings together representatives from each school’s ELAC to share feedback and advise district leaders on programs and services for English Learners.
For more information about your school’s ELAC or to learn how to get involved, please contact your school office.
